Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) at Wellspring

Community Supported Agriculture is a partnership between grower and consumer. Wellspring has been a CSA since 1988. People who want to know where their food comes from and how it is grown join a CSA. They support the grower by signing up early and paying upfront for a season’s supply of fresh produce. Wellspring in return provides 22 weeks of fresh, certified organic vegetables and herbs from early June to the end of October.

Households receive produce that is in season each week along with recipes and tips on how to prepare the fresh food. Local residents pick up their food at the farm each Thursday afternoon. Others have food delivered to neighborhood drop-off sites in West Bend and Grafton on Thursdays and Milwaukee and Wauwatosa on Sunday afternoons.

There are farm festivals for subscribing families each spring, summer and fall. The Earth Day Celebration and Herb Sale are on the 3rd Saturday of April from 9:00AM - 1:00 pm. In early summer is a picnic at the farm for members and garden share families. We celebrate the harvest with a Taste of Wellspring gourmet meal on Sept. 26th at 5:00pm with live music and awesome food right from the farm. The Harvest Fest is in October with hay rides, pumpkin carving, river walks and garden tours - a great time for families and it’s free!

CSA

Those who partner with their “personal farmer” are growing a movement called Community Supported Agriculture. It’s a way of keeping farmers on the land, supporting the local economy, cutting transportation costs and preserving the environment.

Would you like farm fresh organic vegetables delivered to your neighborhood? Subscribe today to receive a weekly share of Wellspring’s garden. As a subscriber you receive 22 weeks of fresh food along with helpful recipes beginning the 1st week of June through the last week of October. Households who buy a share of the garden are invited to farm festivals and to help at least one day on the farm. Sign Up? to buy a garden share.
